Ice Skating On Water

From 19th November until 7th January there is an ice skating rink at Parker's Piece in Cambridge, and me & my girl were there to check it out.

Parker's Piece puistoon on tehty tekojääkenttä talvi kuukausien ajaksi ja mehän oltiin Julian kanssa ensimmäisten joukossa testaamassa rataa.

This was Julia's second time on ice with skates, last time two years ago, so we had little problems without the penguin or the helmet. After three falls straight on her bottom we had to ask for some help. And as it turns out pushing the penguin around the rink helped her a lot!

Ennen eilistä Julia oli ollut vain kerran luistelemassa kaksi vuotta sitten, joten pystyssä pysyminen oli hieman vaikeaa. Kolmen peppu pyllähdyksen jälkeen päätettiin laittaa kypärä päähän ja Pingu tueksi. Ja Pingu tosiaan pelasti päivän! Julia pysyi pystyssä koko loppu ajan :)

However there was one huge minus to the otherwise great rink. The weather is still too warm so the ice won't stay as ice and it has a bad habbit of melting, and there are ponds of water all over the rink. So imagine after three falls Julia's clothes were soaking wet. Next time water-proof clothes. Poor baby.

Luistelukenttä on ihan paras idea saada talvitunnelmaa tänne Cambridgeen, mutta yksi suuri miinus löytyi... Ilma on täällä vielä ihan liian lämmin jääkenttiin, joten radalla on tapana sulaa kovaa vauhtia vaikka he sitä kovin jäädyttävät. Kentällä oli siis ohut kerros vettä koko ajan ja nurkissa mielettömät lammikot vettä... Julia raukka, kolmen kaatumisen jälkeen oli vaatteet kyllä ihan läpimärät. Ps. Kentältä löytyi matkustusmainos Suomeen/Lappiin!

My baby girl, let's all love her even though she looks like a retarded puppy in these pictures. We had so much fun and 45 minute session wasn't enough so we'll be there again soon! Can't wait to get on real ice, with my own skates, without water in Finland... 26 days!
